Certain maintenance agreements made between parties may be registered with the Maintenance Enforcement Program (MEP).
You must use a specific form, called a Maintenance Enforcement Support Agreement, so that the terms of the agreement is clear and enforceable by MEP, and you must follow specific steps before you register with MEP.
A court order cannot be changed by an agreement, whether written or verbal. The two of you must enter into a new court order to change the amount of support.
To change a Provincial Court order, you must make an application to the court.
In Alberta, you may apply to have your child support automatically recalculated once a year.
