Court of King's Bench of Alberta
The Court of King's Bench is the Superior Trial Court for the Province, hearing trials in civil and criminal matters and appeals from decisions of the Court of Justice. The Chief Justice and other Justices of the Court are also judges of Surrogate Matters, which has jurisdiction over probate and administration of estate matters.
The Court of Queen’s Bench will resume Criminal Appearance Court (“CAC”) province wide commencing June 5, 2020 via Webex with regular CAC dates listed in the Court Calendar and those added in the Master Orders. Booking priority will be given on CAC lists in June to September 4, 2020 to in-custody matters, trials that were Jordan-threatened prior to the pandemic and trial adjournments from March 16 to June 26, 2020. During these CAC dates, matters meeting one of these criteria will be scheduled for hearings. Any new, non-urgent matters should be set for CAC on or after September 7, 2020 unless there are slots available. Please note capped dates below.
No Brought Forward Requests will be permitted for June, July or August. If you require an urgent appearance, please complete the Criminal Trial Triage Form.
The Summary Disposition Hearing Request Form remains available for taking guilty pleas and sentencing.
