On March 12, 2025, the Court of Appeal is launching an electronic scheduling portal for the Court of Appeal Management System (CAMS).
Background
In August 2020, the Court of Appeal introduced CAMS, a case management, document management, and electronic filing system, to better serve the administration of justice, litigants, the Bar and the public at large. As part of the continuous efforts to enhance access to justice, the Court is pleased to announce an eScheduling component, which has been added to CAMS.
How It Works
This new eScheduling feature applies to appeals and applications. Effective March 12, 2025, CAMS account users can view available dates and request them online. Receipt of a request will be immediately acknowledged. Once approved, formal email confirmation of the date will follow.
Users can also use this feature to make requests for adjournments for these matters, and they will be processed in the same manner.
This booking method replaces the previous process of contacting the Registry or Case Management Officer by email or phone for the above matters.
The eScheduling feature is not available to view and book Appeal Conferences and Judicial Dispute Resolution. These will continue to be booked using the existing process. https://www.albertacourts.ca/ca/publications/jdr
Implementation of eScheduling
Between March 12, 2025, and June 12, 2025, the use of eScheduling is optional. Starting June 13, 2025, the use of the eScheduling system is mandatory except for those parties who are not at liberty or have been granted an exemption to electronic filing pursuant to Section 6 of the Practice Direction for Electronic Filing.
