Due to the continuing pandemic and the need to reduce the number of people attending EVV Hearings in person at the same time, the process for EVV Oral Hearings in Edmonton has been changed as follows, effective May 14, 2021:

1. Claimants and Respondents (and Counsel) must call in or attend by Video no later than 9:15 a.m. on the day of the scheduled Oral Hearing indicated on the EPO Adjournment and EPO Oral Hearing Order (or Restraining Order Oral Hearing Order).

2. At 9:30 a.m. on the day of the scheduled Oral Hearing, the presiding Justice will do an initial triage of all matters. If the matter is proceeding, the Justice will assign a specific scheduled time and Courtroom for the parties and Counsel to appear in person at the Edmonton Law Courts building on that same day so the Oral Hearing can proceed.
3. It is essential where Counsel are involved with a matter, that the status of the matter and any prospect of resolution be discussed with the opposing party before the triage process.
4. The parties and Counsel must attend the Oral Hearing in person at the time provided by the Justice. Please arrive no later than 15 minutes before the start of the assigned Oral Hearing time.
5. As the Court is limiting the number of individuals allowed into the Courthouse, only the parties, Counsel and the witnesses permitted by the EVV Order may attend. Each party will be limited to only one support person.
