Revised Civil Practice Note 1 and Commercial Practice Note 1 – Effective July 2, 2024

The Court has revised Civil Practice Note 1 and Commercial Practice Note 1. Many minor changes have been made to accurately reflect current contact information and scheduling practices. In addition, the new Practice Notes contain the following substantive changes:

Civil Practice Note 1

  • Filing deadlines for judicial reviews and civil and family appeals from the Alberta Court of Justice have been added to the Practice Note and are set out in paragraph 21(a).

Commercial Practice Note 1

  • Some additions have been made to the list of matters that may be scheduled on the Commercial List in paragraph 1.
  • References to having Calgary commercial matters heard on the Edmonton commercial list have been updated to permit matters from either jurisdiction to be heard in the other (paragraph 30).
