Feb 13, 2018

The Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta is pleased to announce 2018 Indigenous Career Day at the Edmonton Law Courts on Thursday, February 15, 2018.

The event will spotlight job opportunities within the justice system for students from Edmonton area high schools including the Alexis Nakota Sioux Nation School and Boyle Street Education Centre.

Some highlights of the event will be presentations by Harold Robinson of the Metis Settlements General Council, Drew Lafond, the vice-president of the Indigenous Bar Association, Jackson Mirasty, a Gladue Report writer, and Sgt. Stephanie Ward of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

Guests will be able to watch Court proceedings and have the opportunity to meet with judges, lawyers, probation officers, police members, sheriffs, clerks and others working in the justice system.

It is the second time this event, which runs from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., has been held.
