Posthumous Bar Call Ceremony - November 9, 2018
In remembrance of the sacrifice of 37 Alberta law students who answered the patriotic call for service in the First World War, but did not return home to complete their studies or articles to become lawyers, a special "We Have Not Forgotten" Call to the Bar and Remembrance ceremony will take place on Friday, November 9, 2018, at 4 p.m. in the Ceremonial Courtroom (1801) at the Calgary Courts Centre. Chief Justice Mary Moreau, Associate Chief Justice John Rooke and Justice Blair Nixon will preside over the event.
In memory and recognition of their ultimate sacrifice, the Law Society Of Alberta Board of Directors (Benchers) passed a resolution to posthumously admit these 27 law students to the Alberta Bar. This initiative is led by the Legal Archives Society of Alberta's project titled "We Have Not Forgotten."
